Effect of electrical stimulation combined with biofeedback therapy on improvement of symptoms and quality of life in female stress urinary incontinence

  •   Objective  To explore the effect of electrical stimulation combined with biofeedback therapy on the improvement of symptoms and quality of life in female stress urinary incontinence.
      Methods  Totally 100 female patients with mild tomoderate stress urinary incontinence were randomly divided into observation group and control group, with 50 cases in each group. The observation group was treated with biofeedback combined with electrical stimulation, while the control group was treated with electricalstimulation. Before and after treatment, the quality of life score of urinary incontinence, urine leakage of 1 h pad test and pelvic floor muscle strength were compared between the two groups, and the curative effect of the two groups was compared as well.
      Results  After treatment, the urinary pad leakage volume, pelvic floor muscle strength and quality of life score in both groups significantly improved when compared with those before treatment (P < 0.05). The urinary pad leakage volume in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group, and the pelvic floor muscle strength and quality of life score were significantly better than those in the control group (P < 0.05). The total effective rate was 96.00% in the observation group, which was significantly higher than 72.00% in the control group (P < 0.05).
      Conclusion  Biofeedback combined with electrical stimulation is effective in the treatment of female stress urinary incontinence.
